This limited-edition vinyl features the original soundtrack from the “Lunar Weerasethakul” section of Ring of Fire – Solar Yang & Lunar Weerasethakul, a collaborative installation by Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Haegue Yang at Matabe House, Naoshima, Japan.
Composed and produced by Koichi Shimizu and Akritchalerm Kalayanamitr, the soundtrack extends the sonic atmosphere of the installation into a listening experience. The LP allows the work to resonate beyond its site-specific context, offering audiences a way to encounter the piece through sound.

Ring of Fire refers to the Pacific Ocean’s tectonic zone of earthquakes and volcanoes. The project explores light, shadow, movement, and vibration to make the invisible visible. The installation shifts between two modes: Day, where Yang’s works respond to real-time earthquake data, and Night, where Weerasethakul’s elements activate based on historical earthquake records from the past century.

Ring of Fire คือชื่อที่อ้างอิงถึงแนววงแหวนภูเขาไฟรอบมหาสมุทรแปซิฟิก ซึ่งเป็นพื้นที่ที่เกิดแผ่นดินไหวและภูเขาไฟระเบิดบ่อยครั้ง ผลงานนี้สำรวจปรากฏการณ์ของแสง เงา การเคลื่อนไหว และแรงสั่นสะเทือน เพื่อเผยให้เห็นสิ่งที่มองไม่เห็นต่อสายตา การติดตั้งทำงานในสองโหมด ได้แก่ ช่วงกลางวัน ซึ่งผลงานของเฮกิวตอบสนองต่อข้อมูลแผ่นดินไหวแบบเรียลไทม์ และ ช่วงกลางคืน ซึ่งองค์ประกอบของอภิชาติพงศศ์จะทำงานตามบันทึกข้อมูลแผ่นดินไหวตลอดศตวรรษที่ผ่านมา
