IN A STATE OF FLUX 

In a State of Flux, by Viriya Chotpanyavisut, is a collection of photographs depicting the mundane objects in everyday life – both manmade and natural – through the artist’s unique perspective, infusing the objects we take for granted with new emotions and vitality. At the same  time,Viriyaremoves the commonly held aesthetic of the photo from the original context or meaning of the objects, thus giving the audience the chance for new interpretations and comprehension. Viriya chose to use black-and-white photos as his medium in order to convey the contradicting feelings of appearing and being, being forgotten, stuck between two states, and stasis. The artist’s methods allows the meanings of the photographs to broaden, making the invisible visible in photographs in a prosaic manner. The photographs that comprise this work were taken between the years 2016–2019

Viriya Chotpunyavisut was born in Bangkok. His time is spent working in both his natie Bangkok and Paris, France. Viriya chooses to express his art through photography as a means to contemplate the relationship between materials and structures to time and space.
