Repeatedly going to places of conflict where the possibilities are defined by the agenda of the state we see as a dangerous mistake. The ‘difficult’ condition of modern warfare is ‘urban’ precisely because this is the arena where our everyday lives are made — where the commodities are produced and sent forth, where the octopus of cables multiplies and spreads, where the schools, hospitals, bureaucratic and financial houses are run. This is what is at stake.
The “SECOND(hand)MOUNTAIN(fortress)” series is a Display Distribute imprint consisting of bootlegged and secondhand editions dedicated by independent practitioners. Each book aims to find the shanzhai of its original, often including multiple translations of a text or related readings and a handwritten dedication to the reader. Others are otherwise out-of-print zines and other publications deemed worthy of rediscovery.
