Traversing through the days and nights of the two months of the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong in 2014, the photographic works of South Ho intentionally avoid scenes of howling protests; instead he reverts to the quotidian perspective of the occupier, documenting another kind of landscape which is quiet and clam. These images constitute also the artist’s own confession in regards to the movement—where passion and loss interweave into a tangled sense of paradox and futility.

ย้อนกลับไปในวันและคืนของช่วงเวลาสองเดือนแห่งขบวนการปฏิวัติร่ม (Umbrella Movement) ในฮ่องกงเมื่อปี 2557 ผลงานภาพถ่ายของเซาท์ โฮ ตั้งใจหลีกเลี่ยงฉากการประท้วงอันวุ่นวายและแทนที่ด้วยการบันทึกภาพอีกรูปแบบหนึ่งที่เงียบและสงบ ซึ่งเป็นบันทึกมุมมองต่อเรื่องทั่วไปในชีวิตประจำวันของเหล่าผู้ประท้วง ภาพเหล่านี้ยังเป็นเหมือนส่วนหนึ่งของคำสารภาพที่ศิลปินมีต่อขบวนการปฏิวัตินี้ ที่ที่แรงปราถนาและความสูญเสียได้ร้อยเรียงกันสู่ความรู้สึกอันพัลวันที่ย้อนแยงและเปล่าประโยชน์
