in process of time | เมื่อหันมองย้อนไป | Soil Without Land is a book that consists of articles, interviews and photographs in relation to the film ‘Without Land’ by a film director Nontawat Numbenchapol which were screened in 2019. The writing part of the content in this book is the collaboration between an academic, an anthropologist, and a researcher who interests and specialises in the issue of history, diversity of ethnic group, and the conflict in Myanmar. While the photography part is an information taken from the process of working of the director on a screenplay.
Nontawat Numbenchapol’s first documentary film is ‘Boundary’ and his following film is ‘By the River’ which was screened in 2013. In 2016, he had a film called ‘#BKKY’ which he experiment in mixing fiction with documentary. He also in 2016, he started to take a field trip to research on the issue at the border of Thailand and Myanmar, specifically at Shan State, until he came out with a documentary film ‘Soil Without Land’ in 2019.
