Founded in 1999, Kick the Machine Films is active in introducing and supporting experimental films and video in Thailand. It is the studio of artist and filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, whose works deal with memory, personal politics and social issues. Working independentlyof the Thai commercial film industry, Apichatpong has been active in promoting experimental and hybrid narrative filmmaking at home and abroad. His art projects and feature films have won him widespread recognition and numerous festival prizes, including two prizes from the Cannes Film Festival. The company’s aim is to finally establish a network for a new generation of Thai video/filmmakers and to promote their work at home and abroad.

ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 2542 Kick the Machine นำเสนอและสนับสนุนงานภาพยนตร์ทดลองและงานวิดีโอในไทย โดยเป็นสตูดิโอของศิลปินและนักสร้างภาพยนตร์ อภิชาติพงศ์ วีระเศรษฐกุล ซึ่งทำผลงานภาพเคลื่อนไหวในหัวข้อเกี่ยวกับความทรงจำ การเมืองส่วนบุคคล และประเด็นเชิงสังคม เขาสร้างผลงานภาพยนตร์ทดลองและภาพเคลื่อนไหวอันผสมผสานการเล่าเรื่องต่อเนื่องทั้งในไทยและในต่างประเทศอย่างเป็นอิสระจากอุตสาหกรรมภาพยนตร์ไทยเชิงพาณิชย์ ผลงานศิลปะและภาพยนตร์ขนาดยาวของเขาได้รับการยอมรับอย่างกว้างขวางและชนะรางวัลจากเวทีการประกวดในเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติต่างๆ มากมาย ซึ่งรวมถึง 2 รางวัลจากเทศกาลภาพยนตร์คานส์ Kick the Machine มุ่งสร้างเครือข่ายให้แก่นักสร้างภาพยนตร์และภาพเคลื่อนไหวไทยรุ่นใหม่ร่วมกับการประชาสัมพันธ์พวกเขาทั้งในและต่างประเทศ
