‘Publishing as Method: A Sample of Ways to Work Together in Asia’ is published on the occasion of an exhibition with the same title. The exhibition aims to position the previous exhibition, ‘<Publishing as Method>’ by Media’s, an independent publishing from South Korea, which was held in Seoul in 2020, within the context of the geographical space that is Bangkok and the art book fair in 2023.
This version of the exhibition showcases publications from Asia, curated based on the five publishing methods that we identified as shared among independent publishers in Asia. The five methods are “Publishing as Auto-observation”, “Publishing as Decentralization”, “Publishing as Political Mobilization”, “Publishing as Knowledge Production and Distribution”, and “Publishing as a Challenge to the Practice Itself”.
